Earth has been completely covered in rubbish, so much so that humans have moved into space to escape from it. Apart from the rubbish, the only thing they've left behind is WALL-E (Ben Burtt). He's a small rubbish collecting robot that is obsessed with all the old bits-and-bobs he finds in the rubbish. One day however he finds another robot, a recon bot by the name of Eve (Elissa Knight). She's been sent to Earth to find out if life is once again sustainable on our once green planet. WALL-E saves Eve during a powerful storm, and quickly falls in love with her. However when he shows her a plant he's found in the rubbish, she suddenly becomes deactivated and doesnt respond to him. He continues to protect her from the elements and dangers that lurk on Earth, even when a spaceship comes to retrieve her he wont leave her side and hides away on the ship. The autopilot of the ship wont let the people land on Earth, but WALL-E starts a mutiny with Eve at his side.
