Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has everything, fortune, fame and respect. He's also a genius engineer. However when he's busy demostrating a new missile system in Afghanistan he is wounded and taken hostage by terrorists wanting a new missile for themselves. Instead of making the weapon, Tony builds an armoured suit that protects him as he escapes his captors and fleas back to America. Safely back home he quickly stops his company making further weapons, instead turning his efforts into making a better suit so he can fight terrorists and rebels that his corrupt second in command has supplied arms for.
